What is a Pension? How your pension works
The LGPS is a very important benefit. Not only will it provide you with an income in retirement, payable for life, but it also gives your loved ones financial security in the event of your death or long-term ill health.
You will find a number of other guides and forms available for you to view on this website as part of an online welcome pack. You should consider completing the following documents as soon as possible:
- Transferring former pension rights
You have 12 months from your date of joining the LGPS to apply for such a transfer so you should consider completing the Declaration of Previous Pension Rights Form' in order to commence the transfer process.
- Expression of wish for payment of Death Grant
From your very first day of membership the LGPS provides a death grant equal to three times the value of your annual assumed pensionable pay.
You should consider who to nominate to receive this benefit if the worst were to happen.
Alternatively you can update your nomination via your online account, 'my pension ONLINE'.
Once you have completed these forms, please return them to the pension team at:

Alternatively, you can scan and email your completed forms to info@berkshirepensions.org.uk
